Reaching the top of a mountain is a big achievement! It's about overcoming challenges and having a motivating goal for your trip. But when looking at a map, it can be hard to choose the easier mountains in the Tatra range that are suitable for children's first climbs.
Easiest Peaks in the Tatra Mountains for Children's First Climbs
Remember - the Tatra Mountains are already challenging, and even the easy peaks are not that easy! The satisfaction of reaching the top is worth the effort of the climb!
1. G臋sia Szyja
The trail to G臋sia Szyja starts from the Wierch Poroniec parking lot (buses to Morskie Oko stop here) and first heads towards Rusinowa Polana, which is said to offer one of the most beautiful views in the Tatras. From Rusinowa Polana, you climb G臋sia Szyja using wooden steps. While the climb is not technically difficult, it is physically exhausting as the steps seem endless.

This makes it a great choice for first adventures and a good introduction to climbing in the Tatras. It is often chosen by families with children.

5. Grze艣
Climbing Grze艣 is not very difficult - it is a scenic and easy-to-reach peak. However, the trail to Grze艣 starts at the end of the Chocho艂owska Valley, one of the longest valleys in the Tatras, stretching 10 km. Biking is allowed in the valley. To reach Grze艣, it's best to either use the valley train, stay overnight in a shelter, or bike through the valley. Otherwise, walking the valley itself will be too exhausting to continue to the relatively easy peak. From Grze艣, if you have the energy, you can continue to Rako艅 and Wo艂owiec.
and... Guba艂贸wka
Guba艂贸wka is not in the Tatra National Park, but it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of Giewont and the Tatras. It is undoubtedly the easiest peak for children and easily accessible - you can take a funicular or walk up. The lower station of the Guba艂贸wka funicular is at the bottom of the main and iconic street in Zakopane - Krup贸wki.
